[Culture] Starbucks doesn't recycle but wants you to sign the Chatham County curbside recycling petition
Date : 05/14/2009

Opinion

Sign the Chatham County curbside recycling petition?

I go to the Starbucks and among all of the many distractions is a poster for a petition for countywide curbside recycling.

I grabbed a marker and asked a few questions myself. I wrote on the poster these questions:

Do you know how much this will cost?

Is recycling beneficial to the environment?

Do you want to pay higher taxes?

RU lazy?

Can't you take care of your own crap?

Do you need someone to wipe your bottom for you as well?

My questions are surely as valid as the poster's question "Do you want countywide curbside recycling".

Here is what I think is pretty funny. Every damn Starbucks I have ever been to in the US does not offer recycling containers but only anything goes garbage containers, which are more often than not, running over with garbage.

Ha ha!!! Here, the Starbucks invites people to sign a petition to do something they won't do on their own. The City of Savannah has a costly, tax sucking, money losing curbside recycling service yet Starbucks does not participate. Would Starbucks participate if the these petitioners get on the ballot and win enough votes for countywide? The location I am talking about is within the city limits but also in the county. Would they offer recycling containers then? Huh?

Talk about cleaning up the environment? How about Starbucks getting their employees to empty the garbage cans before they run over with garbage? I was at a store the other windy day and Starbucks crap was blowing all over the sidewalks and parking lots because all of the kewl kids running the place were too fucking lazy to empty the running over with garbage cans?

Talk about cleaning up the environment? How about Starbucks asking each customer "would you like that for here or to go?" or "would you like your drink in a house cup?". Interesting that you see many of the same people hanging out in these places and most if not all of the regulars are drinking out of throwaway cups? YOU CARE SO MUCH ABOUT THE ENVIRONMENT THAT YOU SIGN A PETITION TO RECYCLE YET YOU DRINK OUT OF A THROWAWAY CUP? YOU FUCKING IDIOTS !!!!

Why not use the house dishes? What? Huh? The kewl kids are too kewl to wash your fucking dishes? Huh?

How about this for a petition. A petition to force Starbucks to keep all tables clean, keep the tables from becoming obviously nasty, ask customers if they want to use house dishes, require them to keep the garbage cans from ever running over and prevent them from allowing their brand name garbage from getting blown down the street. How about that?

I will make a poster tomorrow and will ask this question for starters:

"Starbucks doesn't need a petition to recycle so why do you?"

Fucking idiots.

Anyways, we plan on getting some numbers from the city about their recycling boondoggle very soon and hope to use these numbers to prove the point of the problems related to the practice of recycling.
